In November of I wrote a blog post about using zinc strips to prevent moss from growing on the roof, or possibly to kill moss. I conducted a fairly long-term experiment by installing zinc strips on a moss-covered garage roof, and showed before and after photos after the zinc had sixteen months to work its magic. The results were much better than I had expected. The first photo, showing the untouched roof from July of , showed a lot of moss growth. The next photo, from November of , showed far less moss.
Zinc strips on roof to help with roof moss (do they work?) | Hometalk
While black stains on roofs are a cosmetic issue, moss growth is more than just cosmetic. Not only does moss look terrible on roofs, it will also shorten the life of the roof covering and possibly lead to roof leaks. As with black algae stains , the most common place for moss to grow is on the north side of the roof, but if there are enough overhanging trees or other forms of shade, moss can really grow anywhere. If you want to kill the moss, follow the link above that explains how to remove black roof stains; the process is the same for killing moss.
Zinc Strips kill moss. The moss dies and the roof stays moss free for 10 feet under a zinc strip for five years or so if it stays in place and stays flat. Homeowners can install strips of zinc, purchased at a hardware store. Many people seek zinc strips because they have been well marketed and often recommended.
For decades, zinc strips have been used to keep moss from growing on roofs. This is an explanation of how they work and how they are installed. It also explains the limitations of zinc strip, from the point of view of good roofing practices and experience. Zinc strips work when rain rolls over the metal in the strip, and tiny metal particles are carried down the roof. The metal is poisonous to algae, moss, lichen, fungus, mold and other simple plant life, all of which stain, look bad, and are unhealthy for your roof.
Nothing could ever compare to my husband, I prefer him, always. This does feel good, but I love the feel, the sound, the smell, the interaction, the mental and physical stimulation that we experience in our intimate moments. together.
